Many Singaporeans aspire to own a golf membership and consider
it to be a sign of affluence since the cost of membership is
extremely high. Currently the prices for membership are the
lowest for many years allowing expatriates moving to Singapore
an opportunity to enjoy the benefits of golf membership at a
substantial discount to the market prices of recent years.

Tucked away at the Eastern tip of Singapore lies Changi Golf
Club. This is a hilly nine hole course. However there are different
tee boxes if one is playing 18 holes which offer different approaches
to the same greens. Golfers will have to be accurate in their
shot making to avoid troubles as there are OBs on all the holes.
Holes 1 & 10, 7 & 16 and 9 & 18 also have two greens,
Do not be deceived by the apparent short course as one has to
have local knowledge to play decently here.
Open daily except on Monday mornings

At Jurong Country Club, we strive to pamper guests like you.
This isn't just a service statement; it's the Club's way of
life. And because we value you, we price the greens you play
on - every single bit of the 6,306 metres. Scrupulously landscaped
and well maintained all year round, our 18-hole day and night
golf course is therefore our welcome gift to you.
The course plays to a par 72 and is split into two distinct
halves, with the clubhouse sitting snugly in the middle. The
front nine, designed by British architect Frank Pennick, sprawls
over heavily wooded hills and valleys with one major water hazard.
The back nine, by contrast, is a green-carpeted plain with open
fairways of zoysia grass running into the Jurong Lake.

Laguna National offers two award-winning courses for golfers.
The courses have been ranked among the top courses in the world
by Golf Digest International and Asian Golf Monthly, and have
garnered a list of awards through the years.
The Masters and the Classic Courses are designed by Dye Design,
a company that is renowned for designing some of the best golf
courses in the world. They have been the venue of international
golf tournaments like the Caltex Masters, that feature world-renowned
golfers like Nick Faldo, Colin Montogomery and Ernie Els.
Masters Course
The Masters Course is a 18-hole par 72 course built in the old
Scottish masters style of golf course architecture, where the
fairway mounds are more pronounced and the water features more
prominent. Golf enthusiasts who have played the likes of St
Andrew’s Gleneagles or the Royal Dornock will find the
Masters Course a pleasant reminder of the historic ground of
golf.
Classic Course
Golfers will find gentler mounds and fewer water hazards at
the Classic Course. Also a par 72, this 18-hole course reflects
classic American golf course architecture. Great waste bunkers
delineate many holes and set up strategic shot making. The holes
are shorter in length and there will be a premium on the golfer’s
short game.

Located along the truly picturesque waterways of the Sungei
Seletar Reservoir, OCC boasts one of the most breathtaking courses
in the region.
The Club has three 9-hole courses shaped by Chris Pitman who
also had a hand in the redesign of Tanah Merah and Sentosa courses.
The 27-hole international championship course were designed
with the late Mr Ong Teng Cheong's personal guidance to be uniquely
different. Named after orchids, the Aranda, Vanda and Dendro
courses feature acres of immaculately manicured fairways and
greens. Tee-off on a gentle rolling hill, conquer the strategically
placed bunkers and drive a shot along the glassy waterways.
Occasionally, be greeted by brilliantly-coloured flowers swaying
to the cool breeze that sweeps through the reservoir. Our 27-hole
course played host to the Singapore Open 1999.
Aranda
The Aranda Course (Par 36, 3051m) was the first 9-hole to be
completed in September 1993. The fairways are wide making golf
an enjoyable game for many new enthusiasts. However, some of
the greens are undulating and huge, measuring an average of
700 to 900 square meters.
Vanda
The Vanda Course is a Par 36 (3037m). Despite being the shortest
of the three courses, it offers challenging course management
with abundant water hazards. Accuracy is a premium here. Good
examples would be holes 6, 7 and 8.
Dendro (Under renovation estimated completion in May 2006)
Besides being the longest of the three 9-hole courses (Par 37,
3262m), the Dendro Course has also one of the longest Par 5
(3rd hole -590m) in Singapore. The complexity of the hole, besides
the length, extends from the tee-shot which requires a carry
of 180m across a pond to a narrow fairway bordered by OB on
its left side to the green and protected by fairway sand traps.
Here, the golfer needs not only accuracy, but also power to
be on in regulation.

Perhaps the most prestigous Golf Club is the Singapore Island
Country Club. Many prominent business men and Statesmen are
members and it's exclusivity is the reason why this is one of
the most sought after golf clubs. It is the second oldest club
in Singapore and has 4 x 18 hole golf courses at two separate
locations. Many major International Championships have been
held here. The courses are matured and very maintained.
The busy CEOs and business men who are unable to play during
the day, you can find them here way before sunrise at 6:30 am
to put in a 9 hole game with their cronies and then have a leisurely
breakfast before arriving at their office around 9:30 am. The
first two holes are lighted just for theses early birds.

Tanah Merah Country Club is the result of the concerted effort
of a group of Singaporeans dedicated to the creation of one
of the finest golf clubs in the region.
Building the Garden Course proceeded at full tilt throughout
1981. It was completed after four years of planning and construction.
The planners did not miss the opportunity to maximise on the
available resources. Artificial lakes were excavated and mounts
were created for both visual interest and an element of challenge
for the golfers.
As a result, a strikingly scenic feature is added to an otherwise
monotonous landscape of the massive East Coast reclaimed land.
Even airline passengers cannot fail to be captivated by the
sight of the sprawling, lush "garden" adjoining Changi
Airport.
